IRISH WHISKEY TASTING EXPERIENCE - MARCH 20

IRISH WHISKEY TASTING EXPERIENCE - MARCH 20
From Empire to Revival: Irish Whiskey in Four Styles
Irish whiskey did not evolve in a straight line. Its styles were shaped by history, regulation, trade, and survival, from 19th-century dominance through decline, consolidation, and a modern revival that is still unfolding.
This guided tasting explores the four core styles of Irish whiskey and how each emerged in response to those pressures. We will look at how grain choices, still design, and distillation methods became tied to specific moments in Ireland’s past, and how today’s producers are reinterpreting that identity rather than simply repeating it.

“Although originally from the hometown of Four Roses and Wild Turkey, my journey began in Colorado Springs during the microbrew boom of the ’90s. I enjoyed every new beer that showed up which then carried into my travels in the Air Force where I would try the local brews across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
It wasn’t until a decade later that I started to appreciate Bourbon, Scotch, Tequila, and more recently, Gin and Brandy. With a background in engineering and finance, I’m driven to learn about the how and why. I now use that passion to become more than just a drinker of spirits, but attempt to understand the history, artistry, and people that go into crafting each bottle.”
